In a bid to enhance and expand modern sustainable agricultural practices, PepsiCo has revealed the names of six innovative startups from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Tunisia that have qualified to participate in this year’s “Greenhouse Accelerator” program.
The program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates and “Food Technology Valley,” aims to support companies in transforming their sustainable ideas into successful projects.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: PepsiCo has today unveiled the second batch of companies set to partake in the “Greenhouse Accelerator” program’s sustainability edition for the Middle East and North Africa. This year’s focus revolves around sustainable agriculture. Six startups from the region were selected following a rigorous evaluation process conducted in several stages. During this process, the applying companies presented innovative ideas based on five key criteria: alignment of sustainability goals with PepsiCo’s Positive Agriculture Strategy (+pep), strategic alignment with PepsiCo, scalability, relevance to the Middle East and North Africa region, and possession of unconventional qualifications.
For the second consecutive year, PepsiCo has renewed its partnership with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE and “Food Technology Valley” to launch the program. The goal is to develop innovative and new agricultural solutions by working alongside startups in the region, aligning with PepsiCo’s vision to build a more sustainable food system.
The list of qualified startups includes: “Dooda Solutions,” a Lebanese company run by an ambitious woman focused on commercial-scale vermiculture and high-quality organic fertilizer production. “NoorNation,” an Egyptian startup specializing in renewable energy, aiming to develop and innovate energy generation systems and sustainable decentralized infrastructure. “RoboCare,” a Tunisian company leveraging technology to provide a digital system for early detection of crop diseases, prevention of their spread, and reduction of pesticide use.
On the other hand, “SmartWTI,” from Jordan, specializes in designing Internet of Things and artificial intelligence solutions that contribute to advanced water management. “Smart Green,” also from Jordan, offers agricultural technology solutions to transform traditional farming into modern digital practices. Finally, the Lebanese company “YY ReGen” specializes in providing innovative solutions that encourage the use of renewable energy, sustainable water resource management, and the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices. These startups can contribute to the advancement of sustainable agriculture and create a positive and long-lasting impact on society.
Each selected startup will receive a $20,000 cash grant to support their work and contribute to expanding their innovations. Additionally, they will benefit from guidance from regional experts in the field and from PepsiCo and the “Food Technology Valley” project. At the end of the six-month program, the winning startup will receive an additional cash grant of $100,000 to further expand their operations, along with an opportunity to enhance their partnership with PepsiCo to support their growth and development.
