On September 25th, during the Creative Industry Summit, we had the chance to have a quick talk with the CSR Advisor to the Governor Central Bank of Egypt, Lamise Negm, where she gave us a deeper perspective on how the banking sector is dedicating a worth-mentioning amount of effort towards aiding entrepreneurs and the youth in general.
Q: What are the initiatives you’re currently working on?
Well, the banking sector works in almost every other field. It functions with Health, Education, Empowering women and youth, and supporting small and medium businesses. The banking sector supports all sorts of businesses.
Q: As for youth, what actions are taken to support them?
Within the banking sector, there’s more than one bank that takes a special interest in supporting youth and helping them develop their skills. One example is Enactus, which you’ll find in approximately every university nowadays. Enactus focuses on encouraging young people to build projects that are of benefit to society – from trying to put a stop to child labor to women’s education.
Q: What would you like to say to the readers of Sustain Arabia? How can they hold onto their projects or how can they, for instance, get a fund to kickstart their projects?
Any young person who has a project, an idea, or even a certain craft or skill, has to look for the right channel to work with. They have to find who will teach and help them grow, market for their work, and package their product. They’ve got to learn how to come up with a product that gets out into the world presented in its best image.
