Dubai Municipality wraps up its involvement in COP28, strengthening global collaboration

Dubai Municipality has concluded its engagement in COP28 by signing over seven agreements and memoranda of understanding, accompanied by sustainable commitments aimed at bolstering Dubai’s role in global climate initiatives.

Acting as a Strategic Pathway Partner, the municipality unveiled more than 10 strategic projects and showcased them to a diverse audience of tens of thousands from 198 countries at Expo City Dubai. The sustainable pavilion, incorporating 3D printing, welcomed over 20,000 visitors, and the municipality actively participated in over 50 sessions and workshops during the event.

His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the significance of Dubai’s and the UAE’s exemplary models in climate cooperation, urban planning, development, and sustainability. The commitment extends to Dubai Municipality’s vision to achieve net-zero operations, aligning with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 initiative and the Dubai Urban 2040 Masterplan, thus reinforcing Dubai’s global reputation as a sustainable, livable, aesthetically pleasing, and pioneering city.

The projects unveiled at COP28 span net-zero operations, digital twins, sustainable structures, recycling, waste management, smart technology, and renewable energy, including initiatives such as expanding natural reserves, creating a green building classification system, implementing zero waste strategies, and promoting wastewater reuse.
