Inspiring Sustainability: A Conversation with Mark Wyllie, CEO of Beyti at the Creative Industry Summit

During our engaging discussion with Mark Wyllie, CEO of Beyti, at the Creative Industry Summit, we delved into Beyti’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and the secrets underpinning their flourishing business model.

Q: How does Beyti balance customer preferences with sustainability goals?

A: Sustainability is paramount for us. Consumers don’t want products at any cost. We prioritize sustainable solutions. For instance, instead of offering 50 different juice flavors, we focus on providing recyclable packets of mango juice. It’s not just environmentally conscious; it also makes better business sense.

Q: What are the major challenges in utilizing natural resources and reducing waste and energy consumption?

A: We meticulously manage natural resources, waste, and energy. While it presents challenges, it’s a cost we’re willing to bear. We’ve installed our solar energy plant, covering 20% of our energy needs, and implemented an effluent treatment plant to recycle water for irrigation, aligning with our sustainable ethos.

Q: How does Beyti give back to the community regarding sustainability?

A: Our significant commitment lies in our ‘Kassib’ project. We’ve empowered 350 individuals in Egypt by providing them with bank loans to rent or buy vans. They distribute our products in small villages and cities, running their own businesses. Started in 2017 as a CSR initiative with a handful of vans, it has blossomed into a network of 350 entrepreneurs generating a billion EGP in sales annually. This project not only supports our community but also exemplifies our dedication to sustainable entrepreneurship.
