Knowledge Exchange: Masdar and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Collaborate on Housing Projects

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Masdar to share information and expertise related to housing projects. The MoU was officially signed by His Excellency Eng Mohamed Al Mansouri, who serves as the Director General of SZHP, and Mohamed Al Breiki, who holds the position of Executive Director of Sustainable Real Estate Development at Masdar City. This agreement took place during the GITEX 2023 event.


Cooperation may be found in the following areas: strengthening the role of the private sector in urban infrastructure and housing; exchanging knowledge and skills in the housing sector; and taking part in joint events for housing projects and community services.

H.E. Eng Mohamed Al Mansouri stated, “The Memorandum of Understanding aims to enhance collective endeavors and strategic collaborations among all housing sector stakeholders, encompassing both federal and local government entities as well as service providers. This aligns with the guidance of our visionary leadership, emphasizing the importance of cooperative actions to achieve the goals of a forward-thinking government.”

“We are delighted to formalize this Memorandum of Understanding, which will significantly contribute to realizing the UAE’s vision of ensuring that Emiratis have access to high-quality, environmentally sustainable housing.”

In his response, Mohamed Al Breiki commented, “Ensuring access to sustainable housing is of paramount importance. The UAE government has taken substantial measures to offer housing that aligns with the requirements and preferences of the population.”

“At Masdar City, our objective is to ensure that housing not only caters to people’s needs but also addresses environmental considerations. We take pride in developing the most energy-efficient buildings in the region. Our accomplishments include the first net-zero villa in the nation, as well as the first to attain a 4-Pearl Estidama rating.”

He further noted, “This fresh collaboration with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program will carry significant and extensive benefits for the residents of the UAE.”
