Don Kwak, the Executive Director of LG Electronics in Egypt, stated that the company believes in the importance of innovations that contribute to sustainable development and building a healthy green environment. The company aims to ensure a better lifestyle for communities and reduce the negative environmental impacts.
Kwak added that the company places great importance on research for environmentally-friendly products to enhance its leadership in this field. LG’s strategy supports the country’s plan for sustainable development in 2030, focusing on creating environmentally-friendly communities and cities.
He said, “Our strategy at LG supports the country’s 2030 plan, aiming to achieve sustainable development and create environmentally-friendly communities. We care about reducing environmental damage through an integrated system that aims to support and enrich life.”
This was said on the sidelines of LG’s participation in the “Ashrae” association’s celebration of its silver jubilee under the theme “Building a Green Egypt”. The celebration was attended by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity, and specialists in the heating, cooling, and air conditioning sector, with the aim of promoting the “Green Egypt” initiative that encourages the direction towards building environmentally-friendly cities.
Kwak concluded by saying, “We have taken several steps to promote the building of a green environment through several key principles: reducing resource consumption, promoting recyclability, eliminating hazardous materials, improving the home environment, and reducing harmful substances. In addition, increasing energy consumption efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.”
This approach reflects our commitment to innovations that contribute to sustainable development, as we focus on expanding environmentally-friendly products by improving the use of recyclable materials and reducing waste and emissions. We also focus on environmentally-friendly energy alternatives and take important steps to reduce the damage caused by noise and vibrations.
We have also achieved good results, as 80% of the paper used and 50% of packaging materials can be recycled. These are the main points of our green strategy.”
It is worth mentioning that LG has designed a “Technology Roadmap” (TRM) and set goals for each category of its products, while emphasizing compliance with all international energy laws.
The company has also introduced internal energy strategies and goals to reduce electricity and energy consumption.
The celebration comes on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the existence of the “Ashrae” association in Egypt. The American technical association for individuals and organizations specializing in heating, cooling, and air conditioning was founded in 1894. The association provides many opportunities for knowledge development through research, communication, and various technical committees. Each committee usually meets twice a year.
The association has over 56,000 members from different countries around the world and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
